The PTA of St Peter's School - Coggeshall

The Friends of St Peters

General

The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) at St Peter's School in Coggeshall is a non-profit making registered charity (no. 1120399). All parents and carers of children who attend the school are automatically members of the PTA.

The PTA aims to foster the best possible relationship between home and school and to improve the children's experience at St Peters. The PTA provides an opportunity for parents / carers to play an active role in supporting the school and its staff in the care and education of their children.

By organising special fundraising events, we are able to strengthen the sense of community between school and home whilst raising much needed funds for the school.

We usually average about 20 active members a year, six of whom are Trustees of the Charity.

All funds raised are donated in their entirety to the school - all PTA fundraisers and trustees work on a voluntary basis. Donations are also closely controlled and only made available for projects that will directly benefit the children.

Fundraising

We have donated funds to the school for many purposes. In recent years, money raised has purchased:

  • staging
  • air-conditioning in computer suite and library
  • crackers for Christmas lunch
  • books for infants and juniors
  • 'Arts in School' week
  • autograph books for year 6

We aim to hold at least one activity per calendar month and on average we raise about £8,000 per school year.

100+ Club

The 100+ Club offers its members the opportunity to support St Peter's School whilst giving the chance to win a non-taxable lump sum every month.

An investment of £2 allows you to purchase a 'number' which is then entered into a monthly draw, where you could win one of two prizes (1st Prize £50 and 2nd Prize £25). We have a 'special' draw in December where the 1st Prize increases to £300, 2nd Prize £50 and 3rd Prize £25. You can buy as many additional numbers, at £2 each, as you want - thereby further increasing your chances of winning.

Events

Past events have included the Christmas Fayre, Quizzes, Discos, BBQ's, Dinner/Dances, Family Fun Days and Treasure Hunts.

We also assist the school by providing refreshment services on a number of annual school events, such as Sports Day and the year 5/6 'Leaver's Play'.

Would you like to help?

We endeavour to organise a full and varied range of fun events for both children and parents to enjoy. As we rely totally on volunteers, we are always grateful when parents/carers/grandparents offer their help. Any parent or carer who wishes to get involved in helping the PTA should contact the Chair Lady / Mrs Rebecca Morton on 01376 564824  - Email: rebecca.morton@themortonpartnership.co.uk or pop a letter in the PTA (FOSP) box located in the school foyer. Every offer of help makes a real difference and is very much appreciated.

Would you like to provide feedback?

We really value your feedback (good or bad!), as it will help us improve the support we give to the school and our children. If so,  pop a letter in the PTA (FOSP) box located in the school foyer.

Thanks

We are extremely lucky to be so brilliantly supported by so many people. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. Special thanks to all our volunteers, who give up their precious time and with whom we could not function. We are also very grateful to all the teaching staff, the local church, the wider 'Coggeshall Community' not to mention the many local businesses that provide practical and financial assistance for our various fundraising projects.

News

Having just recently acquired Charity Status, we are now working on establishing a system that will allow us to collect valuable 'Gift Aid' - ensuring we maximise on money donated to the school via the PTA.
