Head's Welcome
![]() |
Welcome to the website of St Peter's Church of England Primary School.
St Peter's is situated in a rural setting in the small market town of Coggeshall. We cater for children between 4+ and 11 years old. Our admission number is 45 which means that each of our classes has a mixed age (see prospectus for details of how this works).
We have approximately 276 children on roll at present and the classes are organised as follows; two reception classes, three year one / two classes, two year three / four classes and three year five / six classes. The school is split into three teams, infants, year 3/4 and year 5/6, each with a team leader who is part of the senior leadership team.
At St Peter's, we believe the happiness and success of each child is paramount. All staff work hard as a team to ensure that the primary aim is met for every child. We have a strong partnership with parents and our wider community in order to enhance the support and guidance we can give our children. As a church school, we have close links with St Peter's Church and its clergy.
The staff work very hard to ensure that lessons are stimulating and exciting, using a wide variety of techniques to ensure that we meet the preferred learning styles of all pupils. We are also keen to give the children opportunities to reflect on their own learning and we listen to their ideas and responses. As a 'Leading Edge' Primary School, we are one of only a handful nationally to be involved with exciting learning developments with our feeder secondary school. This work is being funded by the Government to promote innovative ways of learning and teaching. By providing a wide range of learning experience within the curriculum and by providing over twenty extra curricular activities, we want to ensure that each child gets an opportunity to shine, to experience success and to reach their maximum potential.
I really enjoy being a headteacher with all that this entails. The opportunity to lead a talented and hardworking team of staff,to support and challenge young people who are keen and eager to learn and to draw on a very supportive parent body, ensures that St Peter's is an excellent place to be. You would expect the headteacher to say this!! - OFSTED at our last inspection in March 2008 said:
