 AN EASTER MESSAGE:

The Revd Sara writes...
We had planned to be welcoming you all back to your church for our end of term service today, celebrating all that has happened in the term that has ended and the wonderful festival of Easter to come. We are so sad that we cannot do this because the church building is closed.
Even though the doors are locked, we know that God is with us wherever we are. We don't have to be in a particular place to talk to God. We don't have to be in a special holy mood to pray, either. We can talk to God about all kinds of feelings - we can give him thanks for the things that are good and we can tell him if we are feeling upset or scared.
At Easter we celebrate the amazing idea that Jesus, God's son, died on the cross - but he rose again - he was resurrected - meaning that God's love is stronger than anything. The Bible tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God.
As we begin the Easter holidays, which don't look like a break if you are a staff member or a pupil still coming into school - we can see what love looks like in the people around us that are helping others. We look forward to the time we can all meet again, and until then, we can pray for each other.
Dear God
Thank you for all the fun we had and the things we learned before normal school ended. We thank you for everyone that helps keep us safe. We pray for the people who are unwell and for the doctors and nurses that will look after them.
We pray that we will know your love for us at Easter, Amen

Links with the Parish Church.

St. Peter’s Church of England (VC) Primary School is pleased to have close links with the Parish Church of St. Peter ad Vincula.

The Vicar of Coggeshall now has responsibility for six Churches, which has implications for our Vicar Chris’ time commitments, but to ensure strong links continue Sara Batts; our Curate, is in school on a regular basis, leading collective worship and supporting RE lessons.

“Open the Bible” is an initiative from the churches of Coggeshall working together, offering a weekly dramatized Bible story as part of the Wednesday afternoon assembly. This project is now in its fourth year and is very popular with the pupils. The “Open the Bible” team were delighted to join the staff and pupils, in the summer term of 2017, in a day long exploration of “The Lord’s Prayer”.

This reflects the Diocesan focus on the developing role of lay people in all aspects of Church life and ministry, and has allowed for the greater involvement of more people from local Churches with the school.

The whole school, along with parents and school governors, is welcomed into St. Peter’s church on four occasions during the year, Harvest Festival, Christmas, Easter and Leavers Service, to join together in an act of collective worship, led by the school, in thanks and celebration.
