Admissions Policy - September 2024 intake

St Peter’s Church of England (VC) Primary School stands at the heart of a vibrant, friendly community – and we welcome enquiries from prospective parents who are keen to find out what we can offer their child. Contact the office on 01376 561328 or email [email protected]  to arrange a visit.

Our published intake number is 45 pupils. Our current pattern of admission is that all children join the school at the start of the September term. In 2024, the term will start on Tuesday September 3^rd for the children in Y1 to Y6 (Monday 2^nd September is a non-pupil day). The children in Reception will have a phased start to enable them to settle.

We believe that giving parents/carers and children the opportunity to spend time in school from early on, getting to know the staff and becoming familiar with the environment, can help considerably towards ensuring a smooth transition to full-time education. For this reason, we will offer a range of transition activities prior to the children starting school.

We have our own pre-school on site open for children from the age of 2. Please contact the school office or see the school website for further details.

We also liaise closely with all other local nursery schools with a transition programme throughout the year.

As we are a Voluntary Controlled church school, all applications for places are handled by the Local Authority (LA), which ultimately makes decisions about the admission of children to our school at any time. Further information can be found at:

Applications open on 6th November 2023.

Applications close on 15th January 2024.

National Offer Day is on 16th April 2024.

Deadline for lodging appeals is 15th May 2024.
