New Entrants September 2024: Welcome to Mulberry Class!

Thank you for choosing St. Peter's C of E Primary school - we are looking forward to welcoming your child next September.

Over the next few weeks, we will be adding information to this page.  We hope this will tell you a bit about Early Years and prepare you for your child's new adventure!

Here is what some children and parents have to say about St Peter's:

My daughter loves St Peter's and I can see why. The teachers are caring and fun, there is always something to explore in the school grounds and the learning is varied and interesting.

We are so impressed with the school, management, teachers and supporting staff that have worked so hard introducing our son into the educational system. He is always so happy to go to school, and is treated as an individual which shows that you really care about each and every one of your students. Being able to communicate directly with the teacher via the online application really puts our mind at ease and assists with home learning especially during the exceptionally difficult year.

My child has been so excited to go to school and he has loved his first week! He is enjoying doing various activities, playing with new friends, seeing children he already knows and he cannot wait to go back.

E said this was ‘the best school day ever’ last night, loved all the activities and said we’d never believe it but they got Hot Chocolate at school! Thank you for planning such a fun day of outdoor learning for them.

Am I school ready?

When your child starts primary school there are a number of skills that they should ideally have mastered.  Use this sheet as a guide to help track their progress.  Don't worry if they haven't mastered all of them - we are there to help!

Please complete the All About Me starting school project and bring this to school on the 'move up' morning or when your child starts school in September. This will help us to get to know them a bit and for them to tell us about how they feel or what they like.

Miss Smith

Hello! My name is Miss Smith and I am the early years lead and class teacher. I love being a teacher in early years. It's my favourite place to teach! We have so much fun and are always learning new things!

I live on Mersea Island with my daughter and our dog Gem. I love going for walks on the beach, picking up shells and sailing on our boat. I spend lots of time outside, either gardening, cooking or camping. I expect that's why I love outdoor learning and Forest school so much!

As the art lead, I champion the arts across the school. I really enjoy art and craft activities and will spend time making all sorts of things! Our classroom is a treasure trove of 'bits and bobs', already to use for the next creation!

See you all in Mulberry class for a fun-filled first year at school!

Mrs Angel

Hello,

I work in EYFS alongside Miss Smith. Early Years is my favourite place to be as I enjoy all the craft and outdoor fun we have! I have over 20 years experience as a nursery teacher before working at St Peter's.

I live in a small village just outside Colchester with my husband, 10 year old son Archie and my dog Tilly. When I am not at school I love to walk, read and enjoy cooking. I love going on holiday, and spending time on the beach.

I look forward to welcoming you to St Peter's School.
